Sand Wool & Silk Face Mask
Size & Fit
Over head: From the tip of the chin to around the head, the strap measures 60-68cm. The strap of this mask is designed to rest over the crown of the head and is suited to shorter hair lengths.
Behind head: From the tip of the chin to around the head, the strap measures 58-66cm. The strap of this mask is designed to rest behind the head, above the nape, and is suited to longer hair lengths.
Holding the mask in two hands by the strap, carefully place the front of the mask against your mouth and nose. Place the strap over your head and secure at the back of the head, behind the ears. Adjust for coverage and comfort.
The outer layers of the mask are constructed of a tightly woven wool fabric. The interior of the wool fibre is hydrophilic, while the exterior is hydrophobic. These properties allow moisture to be drawn away from the body while maintaining a dry feeling against the skin.
The inner layer of the mask consists of tightly woven silk taffeta. This extremely fine fibre draws moisture away from the skin, feels cool to the touch, and assists in regulating body temperature.
The qualities of these fabrics aid in the prevention of virus-carrying droplets being transferred to the wearer from the external environment. Their properties create a comfortable, breathable experience while making for a functional and durable garment.
This fabric is a blend of superfine worsted wool and cashmere woven with a subtle white pinstripe. It has a slight lustre which may diminish after multiple washes.
Design & Fit
The morphology of the design provides greater coverage than a standard face mask while reducing fatigue on the wearer. The considered form of the straps disperse tension away from the ears and over or around the head, providing comfortable wear for extended periods.
The materials are pre-washed and will not shrink when placed in a domestic washing machine. We suggest a cold gentle machine wash with a mild detergent. Placing the mask in a delicate garment bag before washing will further increase its life. Alternatively, the mask may be hand washed in cold water and detergent and left to soak for 20 minutes before rinsing. The interior silk taffeta material will soften with each wash.
End of Life
The materials in this mask have been selected for durability and an ability to decompose at the end of the mask's practical life. When placed in the right conditions woollen materials can completely decompose in 6 months.
Mask Safety & Etiquette
Reusable cloth face masks must be used correctly in order to be effective. Adhering to the following points can help ensure the safety of yourself and others:
-Always handle your mask with freshly cleansed hands
-Ensure your mouth, nose, and chin are covered, and adjust to minimise gaps around the edges
-Avoid touching or adjusting the mask whilst wearing
-When removing, handle only by the straps and remove completely from the face and away from the body. If the mask is to be reused before washing store in a clean plastic zip-lock bag
-Never hang the mask around your neck or over one ear
