3 Week Course - Beginner's Sewing: Chef's Apron & Sewing Fundamentals
This course will run across three Saturdays,
This class will teach you the basics of sewing with a domestic machine through the creation of an archetypal chef’s apron. You will learn the anatomy of the machine and its functions, how to thread the machine, wind a bobbin, the role of thread tensions, and a number of different stitches and settings.
You will learn how to read a pattern, cut fabric following correct grain-lines, and construct the pieces into one of three apron design options.
This style will teach you to sew both straight and curved seams, how facings function, to mark and place functioning patch pockets, how to neatly finish edges, and how to bag out and create long ties for your apron. The use of an overlocker for the facings will be an option in this class.
