3 Week Course - Beginners Sewing: The Fundamentals

This course will run across three consecutive Saturdays.
9:00 AM-1:30 PM including a break.
Who is this class for?
For those completely new to sewing, this course will give you the confidence and knowledge to get you comfortable using a domestic sewing machine. Each class will be short, sharp, and practical, so as not to overload you with information.
What will I learn?
You will learn the anatomy of the machine and its functions, how to thread the machine, wind a bobbin, the role of thread tensions, and a number of different stitches and settings.
You will learn how to read a pattern, cut fabric following correct grainlines, and how these apply to a range of sewn objects and garments.
This course is a perfect precursor to attend before enrolling in one of our more advanced courses or workshops.
What will be provided?
-All equipment and materials will be provided such as scissors, snips, and pins. Their use is included in the cost of the course. A variety of fabric styles will be made available.
-Professional cardboard patterns. These may be transferred to paper if you would like to take them home following the class.
-Most work will be completed on domestic sewing machines which will be provided. If you have your own machine that you are familiar with, you are welcome to bring it along, you may learn more about it through our class.
-Coffee and tea, black and Japanese green.
Do I need to bring anything?
-Although work orders will be provided, It’s also a good idea to bring along a notepad and your own pen to take notes of the things you learn.
-Please bring your own water bottle to help us with our COVID-Safe plan.
Terms, conditions & cancellation policy
-A full refund is available for booking cancellations with two weeks' notice.
-A 50% refund is available for booking cancellations with a week's notice.
-No refund is available for booking cancellations within 48 hours.
-Transfer of a class booking to an alternative date may be discussed on an individual basis and may incur an administration fee.
-Classes are subject to a minimum enrolment number before proceeding.
-The System reserves the right to cancel a class at any time, at which point a full refund will be provided.
